Lynn honors Goldfish Pond volunteer and residents who performed lifesaving CPR

The council convened June 9 with ceremonial citations honoring community service. Members of the Goldfish Pond Association and Mayor Jared Nicholson presented an official citation to Marta (Martha) Torres Vargas in recognition of decades of volunteer cleanup at Goldfish Pond.
The mayor and council also presented citations to residents and first-responders who intervened at a track-and-field emergency in April to provide CPR and use an automated external defibrillator; the honorees included Winnie Victor, Melissa Nolan and Trooper George Lopez. Representative Jenny Armeni delivered a brief recognition on behalf of the state legislature.
Council members posed for photographs with the honorees and the chamber offered round applause. The citations were officially recorded in the meeting record.
