The Utilities Committee addressed two National Grid petitions on June 9. Committee members initially tabled a petition to install underground utilities on State Street because no National Grid representative attended. Members then reconsidered the item later in the meeting, took a roll call and approved the previously tabled State Street petition unanimously.
Separately, the committee approved a petition to install underground utilities on Weston Avenue (from around 707 Weston Avenue to the center line at South Street) by motion and voice vote during the same meeting.
Committee members noted they had been in touch with a National Grid representative but proceeded to table the first petition at the first hearing because no representative appeared; the reconsideration and approval followed a motion to take the item off the table and a roll‑call vote.
Next steps: Utilities staff will coordinate with National Grid and file any necessary construction or permitting steps following committee approval.
