Council approves signage permit for Summer Street gas station, continues Western Avenue hearing

Counsel voted unanimously to approve a special permit for expanded signage at a Martin gas station on Summer Street and agreed to continue the hearing on a multifamily proposal at 30–32B Western Avenue to June 23 after the applicant acknowledged a posting error.
At the June 9 meeting the council granted two routine land-use actions. Attorney Sam Vitali spoke for Al Prime Energy Consultant and described approvals already received from site plan and zoning boards; Councilor Avery moved to approve the special permit to allow additional and larger signage at a proposed Martin gas station at 760 Summer Street. The motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
Earlier in the public hearing attorney AJ Capano asked the council to continue the petition from Sing Realy Group LLC regarding a multifamily project at 30–32B Western Avenue because required on-site notice was posted late. Ward Councilor Matul moved to accept the continuance to the June 23 meeting and the council approved the short postponement unanimously.
Both votes were procedural and carried without amendment. The council's actions keep the public record open on the Western Avenue petition and allow the affected neighbors and boards to be fully notified and to participate at the next scheduled hearing.
