Silver Springs Advisory Board notes: library sale, Chamber meeting, sheriff statistics and planning updates

The Silver Springs Advisory Board unanimously approved the May 4 agenda and the minutes of the April 6 meeting (both motions carried 5–0).
Kay Edwards of the Lyon County Library Board said the board is supporting Friends-of-the-Library groups and announced a book sale on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $2 per bag.
Vida Keller, president of the Silver Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, announced a general Chamber meeting on June 15 at 5:30 p.m., said the Chamber is recruiting new members and reported that connectivity for every residence is expected in about 3–4 weeks; she directed residents to silverspringschamber.com for event details.
Deputy Josh Perry of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department presented April 2026 statistics on calls for service, arrests, traffic stops and incident reports and highlighted information on mental-health-related calls. Mark Jones, vice president (Planning Commissioner), said a new utility district is in planning and invited residents to a Tuesday 9 a.m. meeting for those interested.
Commissioner Hendrix noted the board’s approval of a tentative subdivision lot in Dayton and updates to building standards. Commissioner Keller announced a special Planning Commission meeting on May 13 at 9 a.m. in Yerington and said she has been appointed to a State Land Use board that will consider data centers and solar fields statewide.
Chair Adam McGuire closed the meeting with emergency-preparedness reminders and ham-radio repeater information; a VA representative announced regular outreach and a July 16 event in Dayton. The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
