Presentation slides identified four problem areas: an unmarked crosswalk, a sidewalk that terminates at the corner of Durham Drive and Keystone Road, vehicle parking that encroaches on path shoulders and blocks sightlines, and several intersections that would benefit from small 'you are here' maps with distances and walking/biking times. Kayla and the board discussed possible guardrail extensions to deter parking at a high-speed corner and noted a bus stop that requires space for vehicle loading.
Board members suggested coordinating with the resort and property managers (including the resort's information center) to add trail-parking designation and to move or resize roadside signs that obstruct visibility. The presentation also recommended adding a central trail-information kiosk near Riverrun parking that points to trailheads and nearby services.
Kayla said the Capstone students working on the broader wayfinding project will have sign prototypes; the board requested photos and short videos for volunteers who will prepare the guide entries. The presentation closed with an ask that the staff help identify property/parking partners and consider options for small physical maps at key intersections.
The board commended the presentation and asked Kayla and Zach to help other volunteers bring similar documentation (photos, routes, and notes) for their assigned sections before the next check-in.
No formal vote was taken; the presentation was accepted as guidance for further work on the trail guide and wayfinding effort.
