The Sandown Zoning Board voted Thursday to appoint Jason Chu as a full-time member and to elect him chair for the coming year, and reassigned Jeff (surname recorded in the packet as Blake/Lake) to the alternate position, Chair Joel Adjudici said.
The board discussed the swap after learning both members had agreed to the reassignment to avoid conflicts with other town boards. John White moved to appoint Jason Chu as a full-time member and to reassign Jeff to the alternate seat; the motion was seconded and approved by the board. White also moved to appoint Jason Chu as chair and Joel Adjudici as vice chair; that motion likewise passed. Adjudici said the appointments are subject to review or confirmation by the town’s selectboard.
Board members stressed the change was a procedural step to keep meeting quorums intact and to avoid overlapping officer roles on multiple boards. Adjudici told the panel the two members who proposed the swap had indicated they were comfortable with the change and that the selectboard would be notified. The new officer slate is expected to take effect at the board’s next regular meeting, on May 28, when Jason Chu is expected to preside.
The board made the appointments during the April 30 meeting after handling routine business and a minutes review. The board did not report any dissent on the appointments; members present voiced unanimous approval subject to the selectboard’s review.
