Marion County approves contracts, grants and appoints Jeffrey Simons to Fair Board

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on June 17 approved a consent agenda of contracts, amendments and fund actions, and appointed Jeffrey Simons to the Marion County Fair Board.

Key items approved on the consent agenda included a Standard Professional Services Contract with Westech Engineering, Inc., not to exceed $238,592.70 for architectural and engineering services to refurbish a parking lot and repair storm systems at the county Health and Human Services and Juvenile Department Center Street campus through January 31, 2028; establishment of two new funds (Interest Investment Fund and Public Safety Radio Fund) for FY 2026‑27; Amendment #2 to the incoming funds contract with Silverton Health (dba Legacy Silverton Medical Center) adding $97,000 for a new not‑to‑exceed total of $217,000 and extending the term to June 30, 2028; Amendment #1 to the incoming funds IGA with the East Salem Service District adding $605,241 for a new IGA total of $5,961,752 and extending the term to June 30, 2031; a Grant Agreement with the Oregon Department of Emergency Management for $238,810 (estimated split $119,405 federal/$119,405 county) to support emergency management operations through June 30, 2026; and a construction contract with Mid Valley Excavation, LLC for $208,304 to install advisory curve signs countywide through October 31, 2027.

Sherry Lintner presented the Fair Board appointment; Commissioner Kevin Cameron moved to appoint Jeffrey Simons to the Marion County Fair Board for a term ending December 31, 2027. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

The consent agenda motion carried unanimously after Commissioner Bethell indicated she wished to vote and cast an aye vote.
