Middlebury commission approves 12x24 floating dock at 53 Sandy Beach Road, requests final planting and construction sequence

At its April 28 meeting the Middlebury Conservation Commission approved Application #534 from property owner Lisa Perugini to replace an existing 10-by-12 dock with a new 12-by-24 floating dock and a stone pathway at 53 Sandy Beach Road, while asking the applicant to return with a final plan showing plantings and a construction sequence for shoreline and stump removal.
Per the minutes, Perugini proposed building a Trex-and-pressure-treated-wood floating dock and installing a stone pathway. She also indicated future work may be needed to remove a trunk in the water and to grind or remove stumps where trees have broken off. The commission advised the applicant to include all planned work on the current application to avoid reapplication later and requested a final plan listing the replacement plantings and a sequence of construction.
Member Mary Barton moved to accept the application and Joseph Martino seconded the motion; the minutes contain a typographical error listing the motion as for Application #533 but context and agenda show the item was Application #534. The commission recorded the action as approved unanimously and asked Perugini to return with the final plan and construction sequencing.
The commission’s approval allows the dock work to proceed subject to any additional permitting required and the submission of the requested final plan that specifies plantings and construction methods intended to protect shoreline vegetation and minimize erosion.
