Terrence McAuliffe updated the Commission on the Middlebury economic development promotional video, reporting that the video is complete but embedded on the Economic Development webpage with limited visibility and no usable view metrics. Portions of the video include footage of former First Selectman Ed St. John, prompting questions about whether to edit or replace outdated content.
McAuliffe said an estimate of approximately $1,250 had been obtained to edit the video and replace outdated portions. He also proposed an alternative: producing a shorter, roughly 30-second video featuring the current First Selectwoman more prominently and placing that clip on the Town website for better visibility.
After discussion, the Commission reached consensus to take no immediate action on the existing video. Members agreed to revisit the question in conjunction with the anticipated Town website redesign and did not authorize expenditures at the meeting.
