Fruitport board discusses renewal of superintendent's contract; approval expected in September

At the Aug. 18 meeting the Fruitport Community Schools Board discussed tentative changes to Superintendent Jason Kennedy's contract and the process for renewal.
Steve Kelly, reporting for the Personnel Committee, said the committee met Aug. 11 and discussed the August Personnel Report and the need to consider renewal of the superintendent's contract before its June 30, 2026 expiration. Board President Dave Hazekamp provided a brief overview of tentative contract changes and described next steps; the board was told it would be asked to approve the superintendent's contract at the September 2025 board meeting.
No final contract language or vote was recorded at the Aug. 18 meeting. The discussion was recorded as preparatory and procedural; the board identified the September meeting as the anticipated point for formal action.
