BURLINGTON — The Burlington Township Planning Commission voted Jan. 27 to ask the township board for $15,000 to hire an outside company to review the township’s ordinances for illegal or contradictory language and recommend corrections.
Chair Chad Blair called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. at the Burlington township hall. Vice Chair Mary Guthrie and the other commissioners approved routine business: a motion by Spencer Vahs, supported by Carol Adams, to accept the minutes of Oct. 28, 2024, and a motion by Jeremy Steele, supported by Mary Guthrie, to approve the agenda as written; both motions carried.
The commission discussed contracting an outside firm — the minutes specifically cite “such as CivicPlus” as an example — to perform a comprehensive review of the township ordinances and identify conflicting or unlawful provisions and corrections. Jeremy Steele moved, and Bart Boyer supported, a motion to ask the township board for $15,000 to fund that work; the motion carried.
Commissioner Jeremy Steele also said he will look into creating a digital zoning map for Burlington to modernize the commission’s mapping and make zoning boundaries and regulations easier to access and maintain. The minutes indicate Steele will report back to the commission after further investigation.
A final motion by Steele, supported by Adams, adjourned the meeting at 7:05 p.m. The minutes were submitted at the end of the document; the submitted-by line reads “May Geu hes.”
