The Board of Education of the Corning Community Schools on April 20, 2026 approved several routine and facilities-related actions, including the school resource officer salary and benefits package for 2026–27 and a $68,711 fire panel replacement from Johnson Controls.
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Board President Staci Venteicher. Directors Adam Boswell, Stephanie Hodapp, Trent Roberts and Ryan Shuey were present, along with Superintendent Joe Erickson and Board Secretary Jodi Lyddon. The board approved the meeting agenda and consent agenda by unanimous vote.
Among items on the consent agenda were personnel changes: resignations from S. Burgess (instrumental teacher), A. Spieker (elementary teacher), N. Shipley (assistant volleyball coach) and K. Rehmeyer (paraeducator); and contracts for coaches L. Bronner (head girls basketball) and T. Sparks (head girls wrestling). The board also approved two open enrollment requests, one to Lenox and one to Villisca.
Directors voted unanimously to approve claims as submitted and to accept the 2026–2027 staff contracts as presented. The board also approved the BerganKDV audit proposal.
The board did not set a public hearing for a Whole Grade Sharing Agreement at this meeting.
The list of 2026 graduates was approved pending verification that all graduation requirements have been met.
On facilities and safety, the board approved the SRO salary and benefits package for the 2026–2027 school year and authorized a Johnson Controls quote of $68,711.00 to replace the district's fire panel. The board also accepted completion of Bid Package A performed by Lincoln’s Lawn Care.
All motions at the meeting carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:21 p.m.
The board president and board secretary signed the minutes as approved.
