Crosby-Ironton district to prioritize student achievement; principal interviews set at Crest

Rick Ali, a staff member, said the Crosby-Ironton Public School Dist. will make student achievement the first focus of its updated strategic plan and that the board will begin formal discussion at the school board business meeting on Monday, April 27.

"You"ll be getting an email from the school district, all of the summary results of the community, staff, student, and parent input sessions that we had to update our strategic plan," Rick Ali said, noting the emailed packet will include suggested feedback and a summary of survey results. He said the board decided at a recent work session "to focus on student achievement as the first area."

The district plans to take several months to review feedback and survey results as it revises each area of the strategic plan. The emailed materials are intended to give community members time to review findings before board deliberations begin.

Ali also outlined near-term staffing work tied to the plan. "Next week we will be completing four principal interviews for our new principal at Crest," he said, and added that interviews for a community event and support coordinator are scheduled for the following Friday. He said those steps are part of staffing preparations for the 2026-27 school year.

The announcement did not include vote counts, formal board motions or the names of principal candidates; Ali encouraged stakeholders to stay engaged and to reach out with questions. The district will hold its business meeting on April 27, at which board members are expected to discuss themes and specific goals tied to the strategic-plan update.
