Albany council unanimously adopts land-donation resolution, authorizes mayor to sign FEMA documents

The Town of Albany council met Sept. 9, 2024, and unanimously adopted two resolutions and approved routine minutes and financials. Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; the meeting adjourned at 6:59 p.m.
Councilman Gerald Stilley moved to adopt Resolution #005-2024, an act of donation of land from Place 43, LLC; Councilman Don Onofry seconded. The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote: Kim Stewart, Jerry Glascock, Gerald Stilley, Don Onofry and John Thomas voted yes; no votes were recorded against the measure. The resolution was recorded in the minutes as adopted.
Stilley then moved to adopt Resolution #006-2024, which authorizes the mayor to sign FEMA documents; Onofry seconded. That measure also passed unanimously, with the same five council members voting in favor and no nays recorded.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the August 2024 minutes on a motion by Councilman Jerry Glascock, seconded by Councilman John Thomas, and approved the August 2024 financials on a motion by Councilman Don Onofry, seconded by Councilwoman Kim Stewart. Both motions were adopted unanimously according to the minutes.
The agenda included a brief update from Steve Link on town projects and a recognition of newly appointed principals at AUE and AMS; the minutes note the recognition but do not specify the principals’ names. Fire Chief Joe Foster and Police Chief Boyd Wild reported the number of calls for their departments during August; the minutes record that the counts were reported but do not list specific totals.
In her report, Mayor Eileen Bates-McCarroll updated the council on the Hwy 43 sewer project and provided an update on MPERS; the minutes summarize the updates without further procedural action.
