Charlemont Agricultural Commission approves minutes, advances farm survey and outreach tasks

The Charlemont Agricultural Commission met Oct. 21 at Charlemont Town Hall and approved the minutes of Aug. 13, 2024, on a motion by Chair Randy Prostak, seconded by Clare Pearson, passed unanimously. Chair Prostak called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
The commission noted that Right to Farm signs were readjusted in preparation for winter plowing. During a survey update, members assigned tasks to complete and refine a farm survey: Sonny Crawford will supply artwork, the Right to Farm sign will be added to the survey header, Clare Pearson will coordinate with town office contacts Sarah, Carlene and Lynn to narrow the recipient list, and Victoria Valenti will incorporate requested corrections.
Commissioners reported that paperwork for a Farmland Trust filing has been signed and that the filing is pending receipt of completed forms. The group agreed to include information about the Farmland Trust in a future mailing and to decide later how that information will be dispersed.
On the annual notification letter, the commission said it will reuse the previous letter if no changes are needed and offered to assist with folding. Clare Pearson will confirm with Sarah (Town Administrator) whether the letter requires revision and whether it can be included with the next tax-bill mailing; the commission agreed to proceed with inclusion if the town allows it.
The commission scheduled its next meeting for Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. On a motion by Prostak and second by Pearson the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
