Grand Ledge DDA: ADA observation platform construction underway; staff flags need for extra funds

The Grand Ledge Downtown Development Authority on March 11 heard an update on the ADA observation platform project, with Assistant City Manager Amee King saying construction began Feb. 2 and that unexpected items will require additional funding.
King told the board the retaining-wall blocks are nearly complete. She said the next construction steps are the deck, installation of pier footings and the lower concrete slab, followed by the beam and top slab and the stairs.
King reported that “we have encountered several items that will cause additional funds necessary,” but she did not specify a dollar amount. No motion or vote to allocate additional funding was recorded during the meeting.
The board received the update as part of the staff reports; there was no formal action on the project at this meeting.
