Commission hears taxiway lighting problems, T-hangar waitlist and provisional license status

Airport staff briefed the Abrams Municipal Airport Advisory Commission on equipment and regulatory issues at the March 3 meeting.
Amee King, assistant city manager and airport manager, reported that the Taxiway Lighting — Parallel to Runway 9/27 & Beacon Design project remains open with the Michigan Department of Transportation. The commission was told electricians are addressing taxiway-light failures that may stem from a lightning strike; King said some parts may be covered by warranty. The minutes note the project began Sept. 16, 2024.
King also reported T-hangars were fully occupied with a waiting list of about eight people and that the commission had revised late-payment procedures to bring accounts up to date. In addition, she said the airport remains on a provisional license and that the City Council had authorized the city manager to execute a commonwealth administrative settlement for parcel E11.
Commissioner Jeff Oberg moved and Commissioner Stephen Colby seconded a motion to receive and place on file the financial, T-hangar and operations reports; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes do not record specific repair timelines, warranty details, budget figures, or the settlement terms for parcel E11.
Commissioner Helen Hagg separately noted that an airport gate had been open for several weeks and reported that the 8th annual women’s career symposium recently drew more than 200 attendees.
