Shelby council approves retainage payments for trail and housing projects, OKs tree-removal bid

On Oct. 17 the Shelby City Council unanimously approved several contract payments and a bid for tree removal as it concluded business for the evening.
Councilors voted to release final retainage to Precision Concrete for the Trail project in the amount of $22,893.99 and to Leroy 7 Sons for the Housing project in the amount of $63,526.42, each noting final completion and warranty work as of the meeting date. The motion to approve Precision Concrete's retainage was made by Karen Schlueter and seconded by Jackie Hursey; the motion on the Leroy 7 Sons retainage was also moved by Schlueter and seconded by Hursey. In each case the roll call was recorded as all ayes.
The council also approved the city's claims list for Oct. 17 and accepted a Strouf Tree Service bid of $18,276 to remove dead trees in the city right of way. The claims-list approval motion was made by Rick Kiesel and seconded by Pat Honeywell; the tree-removal motion was moved by Honeywell and seconded by Schlueter. Council members recorded votes on those items by roll call, with four affirmative votes and one member absent.
The approvals free contracted retainage tied to the Trail and Housing projects and authorize the tree-removal contractor to begin work under the approved terms. No amendments or conditions were recorded on the motions during the meeting.
The council adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
