Richland Parish School Board approves updated job descriptions, considers new student behavioral-health policies

Board action on personnel matters was unanimous among members present. Mr. Chris Pruitt moved and Mrs. Marie Lewis seconded approval of the updated job descriptions and the salary schedule; the motion carried with all present voting yes. The board recorded Mrs. Linda Jones as absent.
During the meeting the board formally received an itemized list of policy codes including EB-24 (Buildings and Grounds Management), GAMA-24 (Employee Smoking, Tobacco, and Marijuana Use), IDCH-24 (Home Study Program), IDE-24 (Co-Curricular Activities and Extracurricular Activities), IDFA-24 (Interscholastic Athletics), IHA-24 (Grading System), JBE-24 (Truancy), JCDAA-24 and JCDAE-24 (student tobacco and electronic devices), JD-24 (Discipline), JDD-24 (Suspension), JDE (Expulsion), and JGCE (Child Abuse).
The board also voted to consider two behavioral-health policy drafts, JGCF-24 (Behavioral Health Support for Students) and JGCFA-24 (Behavioral Health Services for Students); Mr. William Cleveland moved and Mrs. Emily Ogden seconded that motion, which the board approved by unanimous vote among members present. The meeting minutes do not record substantive debate on the behavioral-health items, only the motion to consider them.
Administrators received an update from the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office about School Resource Officers; the minutes record the update but do not include details of the presentation. The board likewise received routine financial and personnel reports, including the school lunch monthly financial statement, sales tax revenue statement, and the general fund monthly financial statement.
At 6:57 p.m. the board entered executive session to conduct the superintendent’s evaluation after a motion by Mr. James Hough and a second by Mr. Scott McKay; the board exited executive session at 7:23 p.m. The minutes record the times and that the entry and exit motions carried with all present voting yes.
