The Maynard School Committee heard a student representative update, received personnel and facilities updates from the superintendent, and completed routine business including minutes and warrants.
The student representative reported winter activities and athletics, noting the Beacon Santa Teleathon raised over $40,000 and that theater students are preparing the one-act play Constellations for a late-February festival. The superintendent highlighted recognition of the district’s senior project in local media and described hallway revitalization work and planned lobby updates.
The superintendent also said the director of finance will retire at the end of the year and that the district has begun the search process and formed a search committee; the chair asked for a volunteer from the school committee to serve and noted backups would keep the process moving if needed.
Committee members approved minutes for November 20, December 11 and December 18 (with minor grammatical edits) and accepted warrants 2637, 2638, 039, 040 and 041. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:31 p.m.
