Oregon School District board adopts 2024–25 academic standards, approves budget adjustments and policy consolidations

At its July 8 meeting the School Board of the Oregon School District approved the 2024–25 academic standards, adopted 2023–24 budget adjustments, consolidated two health policies and approved a WI School Nutrition Purchasing resolution; the board also accepted donations and staffing changes.
The School Board of the Oregon School District met July 8, 2024, at the OSD Innovation Center and approved several administrative and policy actions, including adoption of the 2024–25 academic standards and 2023–24 budget adjustments.
The board, led by President Krista Flanagan, voted 7–0 to adopt academic standards for mathematics, science, reading and writing, geography and history and directed administration to publish the Board‑approved standards to parents and guardians in a notice consistent with state requirements under section 120.13(13)(b). The motion was moved by Leslie Wright and seconded by Troy Pankratz.
The board also approved budget adjustments for the 2023–24 fiscal year, a motion presented by Business Services staff and approved by a 7–0 roll call vote after member questions. Andy Weiland presented the budget adjustment item to the board during the meeting.
On policy matters, the board approved consolidation of Policy 711 (Health Services) and Policy 712 (Emergency Nursing Services) following a Policy Committee recommendation (3–0). The WI School Nutrition Purchasing (WiSNP) resolution for 2024–25 was approved 7–0 after presentation by Mr. Weiland. The board tabled consideration of 2024–25 food service prices until the July 22, 2024 meeting after board members posed clarifying questions.
During the consent calendar the board approved payments totaling $2,367,948.75, accepted listed staff resignations and new staffing assignments, and accepted several donations, including $1,245.50 from the Oregon Area Food Pantry for student food service balances and $4,280 from After School Club for Netherwood Knoll building sound panels. Board President Krista Flanagan thanked those who donated to the district.

The meeting concluded with a roll call motion to adjourn that passed 7–0; the session ended at 8:57 PM.
