Corning Comm School Board approves audit, multiple agreements and sets budget hearing for April 20

The Corning Comm School District Board of Education met in regular session on March 23, 2026. President Staci Venteicher called the meeting to order at 6:39 p.m., and the board approved the agenda and the consent agenda unanimously.

The consent agenda included routine items: approval of February minutes; Board Policy 501.09; the resignation of M. Gillmer-Embree (High School English); a contract for D. Kinser as assistant golf coach; and open-enrollment actions noting one student from Villisca and two students to Creston. Administrator reports were presented by school administrators.

Dustin Opatz of BerganKDV/Creative Planning presented the district’s 2024–2025 audit. The board moved to accept and approve the audit as presented.

The board approved financial and interagency items by unanimous vote. Actions included approval of claims as submitted and approval of sharing agreements. The board also approved the Iowa Local Government Risk Pool Agreement and the AEA Purchasing Agreement for 2026–2027, SWCC Educational Services contracts, and multiple memoranda of understanding with Green Hills AEA, the Adams County Youth/FFA Fair Association and Ag Extension, and the Montgomery County Agricultural Society and Extension.

On budgeting, the board approved publication of the proposed 2026–2027 budget on April 2, 2026 and set a public hearing on that proposed budget for April 20, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.

A personnel motion approved termination of the probationary contract of Elizabeth McNamara effective at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. The board also approved the 2025–2026 District Career and Academic Plan. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
