The Deerfield Community Preservation Committee voted unanimously Feb. 18, 2026, to adopt an amended Grant Award Agreement for the 1821 Meeting House. Committee member Lili Dwight moved to eliminate Paragraph 11 of the Feb. 17, 2026 draft to remove repetition; Julie Caswell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Dwight then moved to accept the agreement as amended to "eliminate repetition, ensure financial integrity and provide ongoing assurance that, going forward, deed restrictions designed to protect community and historic interests will be held by a mutually agreed upon party," and Geoff Brown seconded; the Committee again voted unanimously.
Committee members said the final draft reflected edits from the Community Preservation Committee, Deerfield Town Counsel, and Town of Deerfield planning staff. The changes were described as intended to streamline the agreement language and to clarify how deed restrictions will be preserved and by whom, with the goal of protecting the property’s historical and community values while ensuring financial safeguards.
The Committee took no additional formal action in the minutes on next steps for recording the deed restrictions; the minutes record only the Committee’s unanimous vote to accept the amended agreement.
