Agency approves recreational shed in floodplain with storage restriction

The Town of Chester Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Agency approved Application 26-2 on April 6, allowing construction of a 14-foot-by-24-foot recreational shed at 49 Parker’s Point Road with a condition prohibiting storage of motorized vehicles or petroleum, oils or lubricants (POL) inside the structure.
Caroline Nanai, representing the applicant Craig J. Morel, presented revised plans showing the shed shifted outside the wetland soil area, two feet of crushed stone added around the perimeter, and the structure tied to concrete footings "per FEMA guidelines." She reported the shed would have no utilities, be constructed on-site, stand 16 feet tall and include flood vents; the area was flagged in August 2023 by Bob Russo.
Sally Sanders moved to approve the application with the storage restriction; Michael Bellesiles seconded and the Agency approved the motion unanimously. The Agency’s recorded condition prohibits motorized vehicles and POL from being stored in the shed; other construction details will proceed under the approved plan set.
