At its Aug. 20 meeting the Engadine Consolidated Schools Board of Education approved multiple operational and personnel actions intended to prepare the district for the 2025–2026 school year.
Key approvals included awarding the 2025–2026 milk contract to Jilbert’s Dairy; authorizing short-term borrowing to address a projected cash-flow shortage for the coming school year; and approving a cooperative hockey program with Manistique, Newberry, Munising, Superior Central and Cooks, effective July 23, 2025 for a minimum of two years. Trustees also certified Daryl Schroeder as the district’s MASB delegate and Jason Koerner as the alternate.
Personnel actions recorded included accepting the resignation of kitchen aide Molly Burton (effective July 31, 2025), hiring Regina Caldwell as a bus driver for 2025–2026, and approving the hire of another elementary teacher for the coming school year. Trustees also approved an athletics participation-fee change so student athletes pay only one participation fee per season even if they compete in multiple sports.
All listed motions carried (recorded as M/C). Most motions did not include individual vote tallies in the minutes; the record notes the policy first reading vote separately. The board adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
