The East China School District Board of Education voted unanimously Oct. 13 to award a $499,500 contract to Cortis Bros. Trucking & Excavating for renovations to the Marine City 6-12 Campus baseball fields.
Superintendent Cybulla relayed a recommendation from Kirk Grzelka and the board heard a plan overview and schedule from Lisa Bondy of AUCH Construction. Bondy presented blueprint plans for the proposed fields and described a project timeline; Paul Muscat of Cortis Brothers Trucking & Excavating answered board questions about the work and schedule.
Board members who moved and seconded the motion were Karen Cedar and Jessica Becker; President Michael Westrick called the motion carried with a roll-call tally of seven yeas and zero nays. The contract award was listed in the agenda as “Per administration recommendation, the Board of Education approves the Marine City 6-12 Campus Baseball field renovations and construction to Cortis Bros. Trucking & Excavating in the amount of $499,500.00.”
The public-comment portion of the agenda produced no speakers. With no further business, President Westrick declared the meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
Next steps noted in the meeting record: contract approval on Oct. 13 and the presentation of a construction timeline by AUCH Construction; the transcript does not specify a start date for work or funding source details.
