President Michael Westrick called the East China School District Board of Education to order at 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2026, and the board carried a slate of organizational motions to fill its officer posts for the coming year.
Jessica Becker moved to elect Michael Westrick as board president; the motion carried 7-0. Ronald Miller moved to elect Jamie Haslem as vice president; that motion also passed 7-0. Michael Westrick moved to elect Shawn Treadaway as treasurer, and Jamie Haslem moved to elect Jessica Becker as secretary; both motions passed unanimously.
President Westrick then moved to appoint Tiffany Jarskey as assistant to the Board Secretary. Karen Cedar seconded that motion, and the board approved the appointment by a 7-0 vote.
The actions were taken following a ceremonial oath of office led by Administration Suzanne Cybulla. Suzanne Cybulla also recognized board members during School Board Member Appreciation Month and presented certificates and a donated book to the district media centers on the board’s behalf.
The board adjourned its organizational business and continued with the meeting’s remaining agenda items, which included routine approvals under the consent agenda.
