Housing authority schedules water-room fix, warns residents of laundry fee increases

At the East Hampton Housing Authority’s March 19 regular meeting, Executive Director David Schumacher told the board a new control panel for the Chatham water room is scheduled for installation on March 25 at 8:00 a.m. until then Schumacher said he and maintenance staff member Ed have been filling the building’s water tank twice daily to maintain service.
Schumacher also reminded residents that rent-recertification documents are due by March 31 and should be delivered to him or staff member Laura. He told the board that spring cleanup will begin soon and encouraged residents to clear porches ahead of the effort. Schumacher reported the authority’s St. Patrick’s Day event drew 28 residents, and the fire department attended; fire blankets were distributed to attendees.
On resident costs, Schumacher said the laundry company that supplies the machines will raise prices on the washers; the minutes do not specify the new rates. At the meeting, resident Kelly Zeitlin asked whether residents could be held responsible if machines are damaged; the minutes record the question but contain no response that assigns fault.
Schumacher noted housing authority employees will be off on Friday, April 3, for Good Friday.
