At its Oct. 21 meeting the Carman-Ainsworth Board of Education voted unanimously, with Trustee Katina Wilborn recorded as absent, to renew a longstanding Annual Summer Tax Collection Resolution and to adopt three NEOLA board policies.
Superintendent Ryan referenced the original resolution adopted Dec. 21, 1993, which authorized the district to collect 100% of school property taxes, including debt service, as part of summer tax collection beginning in 1994. Trustee Gary Cousins moved to renew the resolution and Trustee Lisa Koegel seconded; the roll call vote recorded ayes from Cousins, Mary Margaret Gleason-Gidcumb, La Cracha Handy, James Johnson, Koegel and President Gloria Nealy. The motion was declared adopted.
On a separate motion Trustee James Johnson moved, supported by Trustee Lisa Koegel, that the Board adopt NEOLA Board Policies 0142.3 (Term), 0144.1 (Board Member Compensation and Expenses) and 0152 (Officers). Superintendent Ryan noted a requested change made to the second reading of Policy 0152; no additional changes were recorded for 0142.3 or 0144.1. The roll call vote mirrored the prior tally and the motion carried.
The minutes record no dissenting votes and do not show further debate on either item. The Board also noted that administrators will present the fiscal audit findings by Yeo & Yeo, CPA at the Nov. 11 meeting.
