Carleton — During its Dec. 3 meeting the Village of Carleton Council confirmed steps to fill two vacant administrative posts and adopted a calendar of meeting dates for 2025.
Council members reported four letters and emails expressing interest in the vacant Village Clerk and Treasurer positions (two applicants for each role). President Penix said he received another letter for the clerk position that day. The council agreed a committee composed of Trustee James M. Geiermann, Trustee Pernicano, Trustee Stolkey and Treasurer Cathy Coleman would interview the applicants.
The council also unanimously approved the proposed 2025 schedule of council meetings (motion by Trustee Burkardt, supported by Trustee Kaczmarek). The minutes show the vote as five ayes and zero nays.
Why it matters: Filling the clerk and treasurer roles will restore in-house capacity for official records and financial administration. The interview committee combines council members with the current treasurer to vet candidates before a full-council decision.
The minutes note that President Penix said his wife expressed interest in the clerk vacancy; the record does not show whether that application will be treated differently from others.
