At its Nov. 21 meeting, the Shelby City Council approved several routine items including the 2023 Wellmark health insurance renewal for full‑time city employees, awarded a water‑service contract, and approved the claims list.
On a motion by Karen Schlueter, seconded by Jackie Hursey, the council approved the Wellmark renewal; the minutes state the rate for the year decreased by 10 percent. Later, on a motion by Pat Honeywell and second by Jackie Hursey, the council accepted a bid from McCarthy Trenching to install a new water service at Dan Nelson’s new home for an estimated total of $5,775.00. The council also approved the claims list on a motion by Honeywell, seconded by Schlueter. All recorded roll-call votes showed Jackie Hursey, Pat Honeywell, Karen Schlueter and Chris Evans voting yes; Rick Kiesel was recorded absent for each vote.
The minutes do not record additional debate or amendments on these items. The meeting recessed for a closed session later in the agenda and then reconvened before adjournment at 9:30 p.m.
