Superintendent Gary Chapman briefed the board on progress at the district's fieldhouse and stadium projects, sharing an exterior conceptual design developed by the committee and outlining next steps for fundraising and a design-build procurement.
Chapman said crews have completed substantial excavation, prepared pads for future seating and worked on concrete spectator walkways and an under-bleacher passage on the home side. He said perimeter fencing is being removed and replaced with new vinyl fencing as scheduled.
On the scoreboard, Chapman said, "they're looking at the week of July 13th for the scoreboard to be delivered" and staff planned to attach it to the structure as soon as it arrives. He cautioned that track resurfacing involves milling, asphalt paving and then a cure window before polyurethane installation; the district cannot allow foot traffic during roughly a three-week period. That timing may require postponing or relocating the marching band preview scheduled for Aug. 7; the district is planning a community "meet the band" night after school starts as an alternative.
Board members noted the team's first two games are away, which reduces immediate scheduling pressure to have the stadium open for those contests.
