Richard Bates and Sarah Martinson of Thunder Bay Community Health Services presented a video and described a series of new and resumed services for Hillman residents.
They said the old pharmacy building will be renovated (exterior updates noted in the presentation) to house a fitness center. TBCHS plans to use grant funding to run "Prescription for Health," a program in which a provider gives patients a coupon for fresh produce redeemable at partner outlets; TBCHS officials said they are partnering with Eli's Market Place and asked the council for local ideas for farmers-market or produce distribution outlets.
TBCHS also announced it will resume the Thunder Bay 5K on Aug. 9, 2025, with the race starting at Thunder Bay Resort. The presentation highlighted clinic growth and expanded community programming intended to address both preventive health and local access to fresh foods.
TBCHS representatives requested suggestions for local produce partners and indicated they will follow up with details as plans progress.
