Hillman meeting: sheriff reports drug bust, fire department reports 40 runs, airport maintenance planned

Deputy DeMott of the Montmorency County Sheriff's Office told the March 4 meeting that officers recently made a substantial drug bust in the area and that the department will increase patrols in the village.
Trustee Velma Brown reported the Fire Department had five runs and EMS recorded 35 billable runs; the Hubbard Lake truck painting is complete and the department has joined MABAS. Brown said the department would seek reimbursement for runs into Green Township because that township only staffs first responders and cannot transport patients.
Manager Dave Post said water drilling will begin in April and that he will send an EGLE letter next week; he also noted a notice from Claire Lowe requiring the purchase of a new caliper. Trustees praised DPWfor streetlight upkeep and snow removal. Trustee Brown said both airport runways and the tarmac need crack sealing and that leases are due Sept. 1, 2025. Judy Nichols reported Brush Creek Mill will reopen in April.
