Minuteman reports 180 accepted students, uncertainty remains over out-of-district slots

Admissions staff provided a town-by-town update and said the district has 180 accepted students from member towns and 47 students who declined. Town-level accepted/declined counts provided by staff were: Arlington 45 accepted, 11 declined; Bolton 8/3; Concord 10 accepted, 5 declined and 1 undecided; Dover 2/0; Lancaster 15/2; Littleton 50/9; Needham 17/5; Stow 10/4. Admissions staff corrected an earlier slide and said one student is undecided (Concord).
Staff reminded the committee that Chapter 74 forms for out-of-district applicants were distributed April 1 and that the district must wait about 10 days for responses. The committee agreed staff will report back after the April 14 finance meeting about whether there is room for out-of-district students and whether a lottery will be necessary. Presenters stressed that current numbers may shift as late in-district applicants finish enrollment packets and as Chapter 74 approvals are returned.
The admissions presentation noted 75 students had completed enrollment packets and 85 students had registered for assessment day on May 2; staff said confirmed incoming freshman stood at 67 with additional movement expected over the spring.
