Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical administrators reported that 177 students have been accepted so far, exceeding the district slot allocation of 175. The committee was asked to note that the figure is fluid: families accept or decline, and the in‑district priority policy remains in effect.
The principal told the committee that the admissions breakdown is displayed by sending town and that the out‑of‑district group currently includes 83 applicants. Administration emphasized these out‑of‑district admissions depend on Chapter 74 approvals submitted to applicants' home districts; the April 1 deadline for those approvals will determine whether out‑of‑district applicants are eligible for a lottery.
EMAC (Enrollment, Membership, Access and Capacity) reported the subcommittee discussed the figures and said two towns have reached out about rejoining the district. EMAC will review financial ramifications, enrollment impacts and necessary town approvals and will return with more detailed analysis after meeting again on March 24. Committee members cautioned the process of a town rejoining would be multi‑year and depends on individual sending‑town votes.
Committee members also noted a cohort of about 17 in‑district students currently undecided who hold accepted spots until the deadline; administrators said last year's final fall enrollments were lower than initial acceptances, underscoring the fluid nature of the numbers.
Next steps: the district will finalize acceptance lists after the April 1 Chapter 74 deadline, EMAC will continue its review and report back to the full committee, and staff will provide a fuller admissions report in April.
