Sullivan's Island council approves minutes, hears committee updates and project reports

Councilmember Scott Millimet moved, and Councilmember Carl Hubbard seconded, to approve the Jan. 21, 2025 regular meeting minutes; the motion carried with four yes votes and one abstention by Councilmember Jody Latham. Committee Member Carl Hubbard moved to approve the Jan. 13, 2025 Land Use & Natural Resources Committee minutes (committee members only); Chair Gary Visser seconded and the committee minutes were approved.
Town Administrator Joe Henderson updated council on the Nature Trail, saying one area of ADA matting remains to be installed this week and signage will be put up in the next two weeks; a mid-March opening is planned. He also reported that sand project crews are working at Stations 30, 32, and 12 and that plans are available online for the public to review.
Jason Blanton presented the monthly financial report to the Finance Committee and council; Chair Scott Millimet said a detailed FY 2026 departmental finance report will be provided later. Public Facilities reported on Old Town Hall subcommittee permits and said Palmetto log fort logs should be ready with grant funds expected to help pay for the project; the Island Club Renovation funding request will be discussed at the next Finance Committee meeting. Water & Sewer Chair Justin Novak noted no immediate project updates and Greg Gress advised residents to prepare for an upcoming cold snap.
Councilmember Gary Visser moved to adjourn, Councilmember Jody Latham seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
