DPW Director Tibio updated the council on March 16 that the city's potholing program, performed ahead of lead-service-line replacements, is nearly complete, with roughly 60 sites remaining. He said crews will restore landscaping at houses not scheduled for service-line replacement and that actual replacements will begin this month after "misdig" marking and resident notifications.
Tibio outlined upcoming water-main projects: final work on the Dwinder main is nearly finished; crews will then move to Calonia from 8 Mile to Max and then West Harry (from John R across to the school dead-end). Two additional projects (8 Mile main between Merrill and southbound service drive, and Battel/Annabel dead ends) were noted as pending external approvals; the 8 Mile project is delayed by concurrent work from a fiber-optic contractor and MDOT scheduling.
Tibio also said DPW crews responded to windstorm tree damage, street sweepers are out to address winter leaf debris and coal-patching continues. He asked residents to report holes and lead-replacement issues to DPW rather than relying on Facebook. The department will distribute an explanatory flyer with water bills explaining misdig flags and replacement procedures.
