At a May 26 meeting at the SMB, the Sterling Family Day Committee approved an indoor flea market for Nov. 7 and reviewed its finances as it plans summer and fall fundraising events. M. Molodich presided and Darlene Larned is recorded as the secretary.
The committee accepted the minutes and heard the treasurer's report: $10,744.88 in the checking account and $9,753.71 in the rainy-day fund. Members discussed how to record dinner income, distinguishing gross receipts (total before expenses) from net income (after expenses). The minutes note recent yard sale revenue of $250 from vendors plus a $260 donation and said the event had 12 vendors; members said the sale went well and recommended increased advertising for future sales.
On new business, L. Cooper moved and R. Bonner seconded a motion to hold an indoor Flea Market on Nov. 7; the motion was approved by all. Committee members also discussed moving the Breakfast fundraiser to a winter month such as February and considered changing the Pasta Dinner scheduled for Oct. 24 to a Chicken Dinner; those scheduling items were discussed but the minutes record no separate roll-call votes on them.
M. Molodich reported contacting a fireworks vendor who quoted approximately $1,000 per minute for a display; Molodich said he would consult a second vendor. The committee indicated it would like to stay within an $8,000 fireworks budget.
The minutes further record that new vendor applications and duck tickets are ready and that a banner was purchased for a July 4 event. L. Cooper moved and J. Gooslin seconded a motion to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.; the motion was approved by all. The committee set its next meeting for June 23 at 7 p.m. at the SMB.
The minutes list members present as T. Carpentier, J. Gooslin, L. Cooper, M. Molodich, Darlene Larned (Secretary), R. Bonner, N. Ignacio, P. Ignacio, M. Leach and alternate J. Bonner.
