Story County approves $1 million crime-insurance policy, updates employee wellness policy

Staff said the Travelers policy would replace the existing coverages and cost an additional $423 annually compared with the $1,750 currently paid for the four older bonds; civil counsel reviewed the change and staff said it would meet Iowa code requirements mentioned in the discussion. The board approved the Travelers crime policy and then approved a separate client authorization to bind coverage with Gallagher.
Separately, Sarah, representing the county wellness committee, presented a revised wellness policy that keeps the same overall goals for a healthy living day but replaces one webinar requirement with two wellness challenges to offer employees more active participation options. Staff confirmed that biometric screenings, webinars and wellness challenges may be completed on work time; the board voted to approve the policy and waive the 7‑day review so the program can launch promptly.
