Richland Parish School Board adopts one‑time staff stipends and approves multiple policy updates

The Richland Parish School Board met in Rayville on Oct. 8, 2024, and unanimously approved one‑time stipends for district staff and a set of revised board policies.
The board voted to provide one‑time payments of $2,000 to each full‑time certified staff member and $1,000 to each full‑time classified staff member, with the stipends to be paid prior to Dec. 15, 2024. Mrs. Emily Ogden moved the stipend measure and Mrs. Marie Lewis seconded; members present voted in favor (Yeas: Rev. William Cleveland, Reed Trisler, Marie Lewis, Dr. Georgia Ineichen, Emily Ogden, Linda Jones, Scott McKay). Two members were absent: James Hough and Chris Pruitt.
The board also voted to consider and adopt revisions to several board policies. Mrs. Marie Lewis moved to consider the revised policies, Mr. Scott McKay seconded, and the motion carried unanimously among members present. The policies listed for revision were ABCB‑24 (Qualifications for School Board Members), BBBC‑24 (School Board Member Continuing Education), BCBB‑24 (Notification of School Board Meetings), GBA‑24 (Contracts and Compensation), GBRIB‑24 (Sick Leave), GBRIBB‑24 (Medical Leave Assistance Program/Sick Leave Bank), JDA‑24 (Corporal Punishment), JGC‑24 (Student Health Services), JGCD‑24 (Administration of Medication) and JGCFA‑24 (Behavioral Health Services for Students).
In addition to action items, the board recognized Hykeem Jefferson, a SES student, as the October Student of the Month and Anna King, an SES instructional coach, as the October Employee of the Month.
The board received presentations and reports including an LSU Ag Center update on 4‑H services, a report from Truancy Officer Tommy Watson, and a report from the Federal Programs Department concerning high‑dosage tutoring. Board members were also provided new information regarding the 2024‑2025 Pupil Progression Plan and received routine financial and personnel reports, including the personnel chart, school lunch monthly financial statement, sales tax revenue statement and general fund monthly financial statement.
The meeting concluded after a unanimous vote to adjourn. Meeting minutes were signed by Sheldon Jones, Secretary, and Dr. Georgia Ineichen, President of the Richland Parish School Board.
