The San Juan City Commission approved several land-use and administrative items, including final-plat approval for two residential subdivisions and permission for Hidalgo County Elections to use city facilities for early voting and election day in 2026.
Planning staff recommended final approval of the Angelina subdivision, a 14.64-acre tract proposed to become 69 residential lots. Staff said the preliminary plat had been approved previously and that required infrastructure and a final staff walkthrough were complete; commissioners approved the final plat by motion.
Commissioners also approved the Stewart Phase 2 final plat, a roughly 16-acre tract planned for approximately 89 residential lots. Staff reported infrastructure was in place and recommended approval; the commission adopted the recommendation on a voice vote.
The commission approved a request from the Hidalgo County Elections Department to use the San Juan Memorial Library and Fire Station No. 2 for the 2026 general and runoff elections and set early-voting dates and hours as provided by the county. The commission also reappointed members to the Keep San Juan Beautiful board, filled a parks-and-recreation advisory board vacancy, and approved six consent-agenda items.
No roll-call tallies were recorded in the public transcript; items were approved by motion and voice vote. The commission later entered executive session on attorney consultation and personnel matters and reconvened with no action taken.
