Jessica, the authority's outreach and engagement staff member, outlined a busy events calendar and several programmatic changes designed to improve application support and public access to information. She listed recent and upcoming appearances—from the WBDC Women‑Owned Business Day to Representative Kai Belton's mental health fair—and said the authority will participate in multiple Pride events and community health fairs in June.
Jessica said the outreach team is developing a toolkit and a job aid for healthcare providers to streamline completion of the "certification of a serious health condition" form, with the goal of reducing revisions and improving claim processing. "What we're working on is a couple of different materials and resources to help healthcare providers with their part of the paid leave process," she said.
She described a planned redesign of the website "Contact Us" experience: instead of a single long pick list, the form will be role‑based so users select who they are and then receive tailored options to resolve inquiries or find self‑help resources. "We are moving towards a role‑based system," Jessica said.
On the Community Education Coordinators (CEC) initiative, Jessica reported that seven CECs attended or led 85 events in the quarter and provided assistance to 48 individuals (35 by phone, nine in person). She said site visits and additional support are planned to refine outreach and that partner organizations are adapting materials to better reflect local communities. Virginia was thanked for a "very thorough comprehensive analysis" of Contact Us cases from Q1.
Members asked a brief clarification about the acronym 'CEC' (community education coordinators) and then moved to the podcast and other routine items. There were no formal votes tied to outreach initiatives during the meeting.
