The Deep River Public Library Board of Trustees recorded that the DR Friends of the Library group was officially dissolved on April 1, 2026, and transferred remaining resources to the library.
According to the minutes, the Friends deleted social media accounts, removed information from the library website, closed all bank accounts and completed a clear-out of the space they used in the library. The dissolution followed consultation with the First Selectman and the Town Attorney.
Donna Mingrone thanked the Friends group in person and via email for their past contributions. The Treasurer’s report recorded a gift of $11,626.22 from the Friends upon their dissolution; trustees voted unanimously to approve the Treasurer’s Report that includes that donation.
Why it matters: Friends groups commonly provide volunteer support and program funding; their dissolution and subsequent gift represent a transfer of local philanthropic resources to the library’s accounts and may affect near-term programming or reserves.
Next steps: The donation will be reflected in April bank statements; trustees asked staff to follow necessary town procedures for handling donated funds.
