Alderman David Chandler moved to approve the rezoning and Vice Mayor Drew Campbell seconded the motion. The roll call vote was 5-0 (Aldermen Hensley, Nance, Campbell, Blankenship and Chandler in favor). Ms. Larrinaga was present to answer questions on behalf of the applicant but no substantive concerns were raised during the hearing.
The rezoning changes the property’s zoning classification from the more restrictive central business designation to a general business designation, allowing a broader set of commercial uses under the city’s zoning code. The council completed the second and final reading at the meeting, making the ordinance effective per the city’s normal ordinance-adoption schedule.
The council did not schedule further public hearings on this ordinance and provided no additional direction to staff at the meeting.
