Marion County adopts findings and schedules second hearing on Mt. Angel–Monitor Fire District formation

Following a public hearing on June 24, the Marion County Board of Commissioners adopted an order finding that formation of the proposed Mt. Angel–Monitor Fire District could be beneficial and scheduled the second required public hearing for Monday, July 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Mt. Angel Fire District, 300 Monroe St., Mt. Angel.
County legal counsel presented the petition and recommended adoption of findings consistent with ORS 198.805 and ORS 199.462. Five people had signed up and provided public comment during the first hearing. The board’s motion adopted the order in full and set the second hearing date and location as required by statute. Commissioner Danielle Bethell moved to adopt the order and set the second hearing; Commissioner Colm Willis seconded. The motion carried with Bethell and Willis voting aye; Commissioner Kevin Cameron was absent.
Separately, the board opened a noticed hearing on a Noise Variance for GK Machine Inc. but staff reported the applicant had withdrawn the variance application on June 23, 2026; the board closed that hearing with no action taken.
