The Frankfort-Elberta Area Schools Board of Education held its organizational meeting and elected its 2025 officers. Amy Schindler was chosen as board president; Liz was elected vice president, Aubrey Parker will continue as secretary and Brian Norton will serve as treasurer. The board approved those appointments by voice vote.
The board reviewed and assigned members to standing committees, including long-range planning, finance, district policy, negotiations, personnel and wellness, public relations, and district safety. Members discussed the statutory limit on committee size and volunteered to chair or serve on specific panels; the board emphasized that committees bring recommendations back to the full board for action.
In routine organizational motions, the board confirmed its administrative arrangements for the year: depositories for district funds, authorized signatories, the district’s legal and auditing relationships, and the district’s official newspapers and procurement notification practices. The board also confirmed its regular meeting schedule and the timing for workshops and special meetings.
The meeting moved the consent agenda as presented. During the public-participation portion the board acknowledged two written submissions: a letter regarding spectator behavior at basketball games and an invitation from community radio to have a board representative update listeners on school news. The board said it would follow up with the senders.
The board closed the session by scheduling a workshop for Jan. 27 (with additional options noted) and a regular meeting on Feb. 10.
