Beckett said the foundation supported projects at every level — elementary through high school and early childhood special education — and highlighted a poet-in-residence sponsorship that she described as an $8,000 grant this year. She said the foundation was able to fund nearly all requests, noting grants were sometimes tweaked but rarely declined. "The grants that we get are so creative and innovative — it's really impressive — it's hard to turn any down," Beckett said.
The foundation president said funds come from donors and local business partners and that the grants will underwrite a range of classroom experiences, arts residencies and attendance supports. Board members asked whether the grants extended to preschool; Beckett confirmed they do, including early childhood special education and preschool programs.
The presentation concluded with a group photograph and thanks to donors and volunteers who supported grant fundraising efforts.
