Seabrook board asks towing applicant for business plan, postpones use-variance at 85 Ledge Road

The Seabrook Board of Adjustment postponed a request April 22 from McNutt LLC to allow towing and recovery operations at 85 Ledge Road until the applicant provides a business plan detailing vehicle storage arrangements.

Derreck McNutt told the board he is renting a spot at 85 Ledge Road and described the site as lot storage with a bathroom. He requested a use variance to Section 6 (Table 1) to allow towing and recovery but said he would not perform auto repairs at the location and stated he "won't be storing any cars at the business."

Board members raised concerns about where to store vehicles taken by a towing firm. Chair Chris LeClaire noted that zoning and planning approvals are pending and said the board needs clarity on long‑term storage arrangements. "There is no towing company without a storage yard," the board recorded as a point of concern. The board asked McNutt to provide a business plan that shows where the vehicles will be housed and deferred action until that plan is supplied.

The motion to postpone and request a business plan was made by Rick Foye, seconded by Dennis Howes, and recorded as unanimous. The board also asked for documentation that would clarify how the proposed operation would comply with zoning and any police‑access requirements.

The applicant will return with a business plan and evidence of storage arrangements for further review; no variance was granted at the April 22 meeting.
