Martin Board unanimously approves coach hire and clock replacement, then holds closed session on superintendent evaluation

Principal Becca Lynema told the board staff are focusing on at-risk students and reported that teacher evaluations are complete; she reminded attendees the elementary Christmas concert is Dec. 6 and the band concert is Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. Elementary Assistant Principal Kate Malinov summarized recent school events, including a successful food drive, Math Night on Dec. 4 and a Secret Santa Shop scheduled for Dec. 9–13.
Ball said work with EGLE is "nearing completion," staff attended a safety meeting at the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency led by Troy Woodwyk, and the new vans have been used several times without reported problems. She also announced that Hall of Fame inductees Joe Orr and Art Shook will be recognized on Jan. 10, 2025 between varsity basketball games.

Later in the meeting President Conley moved, and Trustee J. Dykstra supported, a motion to enter closed session at 6:41 p.m. to discuss the superintendent's evaluation under the Open Meetings Act, MCL 15.268(8)(a). The board voted unanimously to go into closed session, adjourned that closed session at 7:22 p.m. by a subsequent unanimous vote and reconvened in open session; the transcript records no formal public action taken as a result of the closed-session discussion.
